Aartus Syrup is a combination of two medicines: Cyproheptadine and tricholine citrate which revives appetite. Cyproheptadine is an appetite stimulant. It works by reducing the effect of serotonin (a chemical messenger) in the hypothalamus, a part of the brain which regulates appetite. Tricholine citrate is a bile acid binding agent. It removes bile acids from the body. The liver then produces more bile acids using cholesterol, as a result, the level of cholesterol in the body is lowered.

It may cause dizziness and drowsiness. Use caution while driving or doing anything that requires concentration.

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine as it can cause excessive drowsiness and increase your risk of stomach problems.

Dry mouth may occur as a side effect. Frequent mouth rinses, good oral hygiene, increased water intake and sugarless candy may help.
