Acemont Tablet

Acemont Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time to get the most benefit. It is advised to have it 2 hours before exercise if you have exercise-induced asthma. It should be taken as your doctor’s advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. Swallow the tablets whole with a drink of water. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you. It does not cure sudden breathing problems, so always carry a medicated inhaler with you. 

It is generally safe medicine with few common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. Generally, you should avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.

Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you have ever had severe liver problems. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works. You must inform your doctor about pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Prevention of Asthma
Treatment of Sneezing and runny nose due to allergies

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Acemont Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Acemont Tablet works by blocking the action of leukotriene, a chemical messenger. This reduces inflammation in the airways to prevent asthma and relieve symptoms of allergies.

If you miss a dose of Acemont Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

You have been prescribed Acemont Tablet for asthma prevention and for the treatment of allergy symptoms such as sneezing and runny nose.

It is a relatively safe medicine with very few side effects.

Take Acemont Tablet 2 hours before exercising if you have exercise-induced asthma.

It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems. Use your rescue inhaler to control sudden difficulty in breathing.

Do not discontinue use without consulting your doctor, even if you feel better.

Q. Why do you have to take Acemont Tablet at night?

Usually, it is recommended to take Acemont Tablet in the evening when it is being used for asthma and allergic rhinitis (cough and cold due to allergy). However, the exact reason for this is not yet known. Some studies have shown that there is no difference in effectiveness whether Acemont Tablet is taken in the evening or morning. Hence, take the medicine as directed by your doctor.

Q. Is Acemont Tablet a steroid?

No, Acemont Tablet is not a steroid. It is a leukotriene blocker. Leukotrienes are natural substances released during an allergic reaction which causes constriction of muscles of airway. It can also cause allergy symptoms. This medicine blocks leukotrienes which helps in relieving symptoms of asthma and allergic rhinitis.

Q. Does Acemont Tablet make you drowsy?

An uncommon side effect of Acemont Tablet is drowsiness. It can also cause dizziness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medicine affects you. Consult your doctor if you experience these side effects.

Q. Can I drink alcohol while taking Acemont Tablet?

Consumption of alcohol should be restricted while taking Acemont Tablet as it may cause dizziness and drowsiness as a side effect. Also, liver disorders caused as side effect of Acemont Tablet may occur more commonly with use of alcohol.

Q. Can Acemont Tablet cause mood changes?

Yes, although uncommonly but Acemont Tablet may cause mood changes. The symptoms of mood change include anxiety, agitation, aggressive behaviour or hostility, irritability, and restlessness. One may also experience depression and suicidal tendency. Consult your doctor immediately in case you develop any of these symptoms.

Q. Can Acemont Tablet cause weird dreams?

Yes, in rare cases Acemont Tablet may cause night mares, sleeplessness, and sleep walking. You should contact your doctor if these symptoms persist.

Q. How should Acemont Tablet be taken?

Acemont Tablet should be taken exactly as directed by your doctor. The medicine should be used preferably in the evening with or without food when being used for asthma. Whereas, for allergic rhinitis, it can be taken at any time of the day but at the same time each day. But, if you are taking it to avoid breathing difficulties during exercise, it should be taken 2 hours before exercise.

Q. How should Acemont Tablet granules be given to children?

It can be directly given in the mouth or dissolve in 1 teaspoonful of cold or room temperature baby formula or breast milk. It can also be used with 1 spoonful of mashed carrots, applesauce, rice, or ice-cream. Remember to give the mixture within 15 minutes of making it.

In Prevention of Asthma

Acemont Tablet works by reducing and preventing swelling and inflammation in your lungs. It is known as a “preventer” and is used to prevent the symptoms of asthma such as tightness in your chest, wheezing, breathlessness and coughing. This means you can carry out your daily activities more easily and more confidently. It may take a few weeks for this medicine to show full effects. This medicine will not stop an asthma attack that has already started.

In Treatment of Sneezing and runny nose due to allergies

Acemont Tablet provides relief from symptoms such as blocked or runny nose, sneezing and itchy or watery eyes. This will make it easier for you to go about your daily activities. It rarely has any serious side effects and you may only need to take it on days you have symptoms. Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Pregnancy:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Acemont Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Acemont Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving:UNSAFE

Acemont Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Acemont Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Acemont Tablet is recommended.

Liver:CAUTION

Acemont Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Dose adjustment of Acemont Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Limited information is available on the use of Acemont Tablet in these patients. No dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild to moderate liver disease.
