Basic Info
Description
To ensure maximum absorption, give Acticlor 125mg Syrup an hour before or two hours after meals. In case your child develops a stomach upset, it is better to give it with meals. Give it as per the dose, time, and way prescribed by the doctor as these depend upon the type and severity of the infection. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of the intake, give the same dose again, but do not double dose if it is the time for the next dose.
Some temporary side effects of this medicine include vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, and mild skin rash. If your child develops these side effects, they should go away on their own. In case these side effects don’t subside on their own or become bothersome for your child, report to the doctor without any delay.
Let the doctor know if your child has ever had any previous episodes of allergy, heart problem, blood disorder, birth defects, airway obstruction, lung anomaly, gastrointestinal problem, skin disorder, liver impairment, and kidney malfunction. Being aware of your child’s medical history will help the doctor make dose alterations and plan your child’s overall treatment.

MOA
Acticlor 125mg Syrup is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. By doing so, this medicine stops the infection-causing bacteria from growing further and prevents the infection from spreading without causing resistance against further treatment.
What If
Unless your childโs doctor has advised otherwise, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember. In case it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not give a double dose to catch up and follow the prescribed dosing schedule.
Drug Tips
Acticlor 125mg Syrup is not recommended for children less than 1 month of age.
Ensure that your child completes the entire course of antibiotics. Quitting in between may cause the bacteria to multiply again, become resistant, or cause another infection.
Give this medicine with food to avoid an upset stomach.
Give your child plenty of water if they develop diarrhea as a side effect.
Conditions like common cold and flu are caused by viruses. Never use this medicine for such conditions.
Avoid saving up the medicine for future use and focus on giving Acticlor 125mg Syrup to your child for their current infection.
Stop this medicine and immediately report to your childโs doctor in case your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties while taking this medicine.
Faqs
Q. Is it harmful if I give a double dose of Acticlor 125mg Syrup to my child?
It is always prudent to stay alert while giving medicines to your child because overdoses increase the risk of worsening the condition or causing unwanted side effects. Though an extra dose of Acticlor 125mg Syrup is unlikely to do harm, you should speak to a doctor to make sure that your child remains unharmed.
Q. Can Acticlor 125mg Syrup cause serious side effects?
Not usually, but rarely it may cause some serious side effects such as persistent vomiting, kidney damage, allergy, diarrhea, and severe gastrointestinal infections. Consult your childโs doctor for help in such a situation.
Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Acticlor 125mg Syrup?
Acticlor 125mg Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Acticlor 125mg Syrup. Also, check with your childโs doctor before giving any medicine to your child.
Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Acticlor 125mg Syrup?
Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.
Q. Which lab tests may my child undergo while taking Acticlor 125mg Syrup on a long-term basis?
The doctor may prescribe getting kidney function tests and liver function tests periodically to keep a check on your childโs condition.
Q. Can Acticlor 125mg Syrup impact my childโs digestive system?
Yes, antibiotics are often accused of causing an upset stomach because while killing the bad bacteria they may unknowingly kill the good bacteria too. As a result, the working of the digestive system may get disrupted. This risk of developing stomach infections is higher in children because they often have a sensitive stomach. You can reduce this risk significantly by giving this medicine to your child with meals. In case your child is having diarrhea while on Acticlor 125mg Syrup, do not stop the medicine course. Instead, call your childโs doctor to ask about the next steps. In some cases, the doctor may alter the dose.
