Adgest HP 250mg Injection is administered only by or under the supervision of a doctor. It should be taken as your doctor advice. Your doctor will decide how much you need to take and for how much time. You should take this injection for as long as it is prescribed for you.

The most common side effects of this medicine include local site reactions at the injection site, nausea, itching, diarrhea, and hives. If any of these bothers you, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them. It may affect blood sugar levels, so monitor your blood sugar regularly. It is better to inform the doctor if you notice yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or stomach pain while using this medicine.

Before taking this medicine inform doctor, if you have ever had any problems with your blood circulation or have diabetes, or any liver disease. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works.

Prevention of Premature Labor

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self administer.

Adgest HP 250mg Injection is a progestin (female hormone). It works by modulating the immune response of the mother to prevent rejection of the embryo and allow its attachment to the uterus. This prevents miscarriage and helps lower the risk of premature birth in women who have had one premature delivery in the past.

Adgest HP 250mg Injection is used in pregnant women to help lower the risk of giving birth too early (preterm birth).

It is only given to a woman who has had a preterm delivery in the past.

It is not for use in women who are pregnant with more than one baby (twins, triplets, etc.).

It is administered only by or under the immediate supervision of your doctor. Your doctor can start giving you the injection every week between 16 and 20 weeks and continue through week 37, or until you deliver.

It may affect blood sugar levels. Monitor your blood sugar regularly.

Inform your doctor if you notice yellowing of eyes or skin, dark urine, or stomach pain. These could be symptoms of a serious liver problem.

Inform your doctor immediately if you have pain in the chest, groin or legs, difficulty with breathing, sudden severe headache, slurred speech, sudden unexplained shortness of breath, a sudden loss of coordination, or vision changes while using this medicine.

In Prevention of Premature Labor

Adgest HP 250mg Injection is a man-made, injectable form of the female hormone called progesterone, that helps lower the risk of delivering the baby too early (premature labor), particularly in women who have had this complication in an earlier pregnancy. Progesterone is a hormone that thickens the lining of the uterus and prepares it for the growth and development of the baby. So, it helps your uterus grow during pregnancy and also prevents any contractions that can otherwise lead to miscarriage.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Adgest HP 250mg Injection is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Adgest HP 250mg Injection is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.

Driving:SAFE

Adgest HP 250mg Injection does not usually affect your ability to drive.

Kidney:CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

There is limited information available on the use of Adgest HP 250mg Injection in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.This medicine contains progesterone which can cause fluid retention in patients with underlying kidney disease.

Liver:UNSAFE

Adgest HP 250mg Injection is probably unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.
