Keep taking this medicine, even if you feel well or your blood sugar levels are controlled. If you stop it without consulting your doctor, your blood sugar levels could rise and put you at risk of kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems and loss of limbs. Remember that it is only part of a treatment program that should also include a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight reduction as advised by your doctor. Your lifestyle plays a big part in controlling diabetes.

This medicine may cause side effects like nausea, taste change, loss of appetite, flatulence, stomach pain, diarrhea, and skin rash. However, these are temporary and usually subside on their own. You have been prescribed Metformin to control the blood sugar level and reduce the risk of diabetic complications such as heart attacks.

Chances of weight gain and low blood sugar are lesser with this medicine as compared to other diabetes medicines.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) may occur when taken along with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol or on delaying/skipping a meal. Carry a sugar source with you for immediate relief.

Tell your doctor immediately if you experience any deep or rapid breathing, persistent nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain as Metformin may cause a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, which is an excess of lactic acid in the blood.

Prolonged use of Metformin may lead to vitamin B12 deficiency which may lead to anemia, causing fatigue, pale skin, shortness of breath or headache. Notify your doctor if you experience any of these as you may require supplements.

There is evidence that normal doses of Voglibose does not cause significant weight loss. However, very high doses of this medicine can affect the absorption of food, thereby causing weight loss. Do not take this medication for weight loss as it is not approved for treatment of obesity. Do consult your doctor before starting this medication.

Q. How should you take Voglibose?

Voglibose is usually prescribed to be taken orally three times daily immediately before each meal. Voglibose may be given along with a controlled diet. However, in case Voglibose does not work alone, it may be given along with a proper diet and other antidiabetic medicines. Your doctor may further increase your doses if the given doses do not provide sufficient control over the blood sugar levels. Driving:CAUTION

Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney:CAUTION

Advog M 0.3 Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Advog M 0.3 Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Advog M 0.3 Tablet SR is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.

Liver:CAUTION

Advog M 0.3 Tablet SR should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Advog M 0.3 Tablet SR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Advog M 0.3 Tablet SR is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.
