Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet is a medicine used to treat heart failure. It reduces the risk of hospitalization and death in patients with long-lasting (chronic) heart failure. It is generally given along with other heart failure medications.

Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet may be taken with or without food. Take it at the same time each day for maximum benefits. Your doctor will decide the dose and how often you take it, and it may change depending on how well you respond to the medicine. Keep taking the tablets regularly, as prescribed, and try not to miss doses to get the most benefit. Do not stop taking them, even if you are feeling well. The medicine prevents future complications.

Common side effects of this medicine include low blood pressure (hypotension), impaired renal function, high potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia), cough, and dizziness. To reduce the risk of dizziness that may be caused by low blood pressure, try getting up slowly from a sitting or lying position. Tell your doctor if these or other side effects are severe or do not go away.

Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you are taking any other medication for blood pressure or heart conditions, or if you have kidney or liver disease. Also, let your doctor know all other medications you are using, as they may affect, or be affected by, this medicine. This medicine should not be taken during pregnancy and is not recommended while breastfeeding. While on treatment with this medicine, your doctor may advise regular monitoring of blood pressure and kidney function.

Treatment of Heart Failure

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: sacubitril and valsartan, which belong to a class of angiotensin receptor neprilysin inhibitors (ARNI). This combination treats heart failure by relaxing the blood vessels and making it easier for your heart to pump blood throughout your body. In addition, it also helps your body retain less water.

Q: What if you forget to take Alsectan Tablet?
A: If you miss a dose of Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

While taking Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet, you should continue to be active (light walking, stretching) and eat a healthy, low-sodium diet.

To reduce the chances of feeling dizzy, rise slowly if sitting or lying down.

Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet may raise the level of potassium in your blood. Avoid taking potassium supplements and eating potassium-rich foods such as bananas and broccoli.

Inform your doctor if you have a history of liver or kidney diseases.

Do not take Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Patients who are allergic to any of its components should avoid Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet. Those who are allergic to the use of ACE inhibitors or ARBs should also avoid using this medicine. It should not be used along with other antihypertensive medicines. Do not take it for at least 36 hours before or after you take an ACE inhibitor medicine. If you are not sure, consult your doctor.

Q. How would I know if I have high potassium levels?

Your doctor will check your blood potassium levels periodically to detect high potassium levels (hyperkalemia). Make sure that you do not miss any scheduled appointments with the doctor.

Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding:CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Driving:CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

It is not known whether Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.

Kidney:CAUTION

Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Regular blood pressure monitoring is recommended. No dose adjustment is needed in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease.

Liver:CAUTION

Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.However, no dose adjustment is recommended in patients with mild liver disease. Alsectan 24mg/26mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with severe liver disease.
