Amifru 40 Tablet

It is best to take Amifru 40 Tablet in the morning along with food in order to avoid frequent urination at night time. For better results, it is suggested to take it at the same time every day.  The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should take this medicine for as long as it is prescribed for you.

Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, dizziness or muscle weakness are some common side effects of this medicine. It might lower down the level of calcium, sodium and magnesium in the blood. Hence, regular monitoring of kidney function and electrolytes is important while using this medicine.

It is generally safe to use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have any liver or  kidney disease. You should also let your healthcare team know all other medicines you are taking as they may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

Treatment of Edema

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Amifru 40 Tablet is to be taken with food.Avoid Amifru 40 Tablet with dietary sodium.

Amifru 40 Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Furosemide and Amiloride. They act on different parts of your kidney to remove extra water and certain electrolytes while maintaining the potassium balance in your body.

If you miss a dose of Amifru 40 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Amifru 40 Tablet helps removes excess water from your body.

Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate.

It may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Don’t drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.

To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.

It may cause excessive urine production, dehydration, and low electrolyte levels. Notify your doctor if you experience dizziness, tiredness, or muscle weakness that doesn’t go away.

Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function and the level of salts such as potassium and sodium in your blood while you’re taking this medication.

Q. Can I feel dizzy after taking Amifru 40 Tablet?

Yes, the use of Amifru 40 Tablet can make you feel dizzy. This may occur when you suddenly rise up from lying or sitting position. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.

Q. Can I stop taking Amifru 40 Tablet if I feel well?

No, keep using Amifru 40 Tablet as advised by your doctor, even if you feel well. Stopping Amifru 40 Tablet suddenly may lead to serious complications such as heart attack and stroke.

Q. Is it safe to get an MRI while using Amifru 40 Tablet?

No, it is not safe to get an MRI scan or other scans which use radioactive dye. Contrast dye and Amifru 40 Tablet can harm your kidneys when used simultaneously.

Q. Are there any special instructions regarding storage and disposal of this medicine?

Keep this medicine in the container or the pack it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.

Amifru 40 Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Amifru 40 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Amifru 40 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Amifru 40 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
