Amtas HT Tablet

Amtas HT Tablet is a combination medicine used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It also helps to reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack. This medicine should be used along with a proper diet, salt restriction, and regular exercise for best results. It should be taken with or without food preferably in the morning, to avoid frequent urination at night. This medicine may cause dehydration, so it is better to take plenty of fluids. Inform doctor if you develop extreme thirst and muscle weakness. Some patients may develop swelling of ankle as a side effect of using this medicine.

Hypertension (high blood pressure)

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Amtas HT Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Amtas HT Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Amlodipine and hydrochlorothiazide which lower blood pressure effectively. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker which relaxes blood vessels and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic which removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body by increasing the amount of urine produced. Over time it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow.

If you miss a dose of Amtas HT Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate.

It may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Don’t drive or do anything requiring concentration until you know how it affects you.

It may cause you to feel lightheaded or weak especially when you stand up (orthostatic hypotension).  Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.

It may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and Inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, muscle weakness or very dry mouth.

Your doctor may regularly monitor your blood pressure, kidney function and the levels of salts such as potassium in your blood while you are taking this medicine.

Amtas HT Tablet relaxes the blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily around your body. It also eliminates excess water from the body and increases urine output. This maintains balance of electrolytes (like potassium), lowers your blood pressure and reduces your risk of having a stroke, a heart attack, or kidney problems in the future. You do not usually feel any direct benefit from taking this medicine, but it works in the long term to keep you well. You should take it regularly as prescribed for this medicine to be most effective, even if you feel better.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Pregnancy:CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Amtas HT Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Amtas HT Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving:UNSAFE

Amtas HT Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.Amtas HT Tablet may cause side effects such as dizziness, headaches, nausea or tiredness, all of which could affect your ability to concentrate and drive.

Kidney:CAUTION

Amtas HT Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Amtas HT Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Amtas HT Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.

Liver:CAUTION

Amtas HT Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Amtas HT Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
