Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at a fixed time each day. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. You can develop tolerance to this medicine over time, which means that the same dose becomes less effective. You have to stick to a really specific dosing schedule to prevent this from happening.

The most common side effect of this medicine is a headache which may be severe. This can sometimes be helped by drinking plenty of fluids and avoiding alcohol. You may also experience lightheadedness, which could increase your risk of having a fall. There are other, rarer side effects, some of them serious. Ask your doctor and read the leaflet which comes with the medicine to make sure you are keeping safe.

Do not use this medicine if you are taking medicines to treat high blood pressure in your lungs (pulmonary hypertension), erectile dysfunction or if you have anemia or glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye). Always tell your doctor what other health conditions you have and what other medicines you are taking. It is best not to drink alcohol with this medicine as it increases some of the side effects. If you are affected by dizziness, avoid driving. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, ask your doctor before taking this medicine.

Treatment of Angina (heart-related chest pain)

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR is a nitrate. It works by relaxing the blood vessels which decreases the oxygen demand of the heart and reduces its workload, thereby preventing/treating attacks of angina (chest pain).

If you miss a dose of Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires concentration until you know how it affects you.

Do not consume alcohol while taking Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR as it may cause increased dizziness.

It may cause headaches which usually go away after a few days of continued treatment. Inform your doctor if it persists.

You may develop tolerance to Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR with time, meaning that the same dose may be less effective next time. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule to avoid this.

Stop taking medications (prescribed for erectile dysfunction) like sildenafil or tadalafil while on treatment with Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR as it may cause low blood pressure.

Q. Can I take sildenafil if I am taking Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR?

No, you should not take sildenafil if you are taking Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR. Taking these two medicines together can cause an excessive fall in blood pressure, which may even be life-threatening.

Q. What effect does Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR have on blood pressure?

Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR decreases the blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels, but is not recommended for the treatment of high blood pressure. The drop in blood pressure may cause lightheadedness, especially when changing your position suddenly.

Q. Does the effect of Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR wear off after some time?

Yes, excessive use of Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR may cause tolerance which means that Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR may lose its effectiveness on you. Therefore, usually the doctors prescribe the smallest dose required for effective relief of acute angina attack. This helps maintain the effectiveness of Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR.

Q. What does too much Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR do?

Excess Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR may result in low blood pressure, sweating, nausea, vomiting, headache, weak and fast pulse. It may also cause weakness, lightheadedness on standing and the patient might even faint. The patient will require emergency medical treatment in such a case.

Q. Can I stop using Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR as I feel better now?

Stopping Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR suddenly may bring on attacks of angina, especially if you have been using it for several weeks or more. Talk to your doctor who will advise you to reduce the dose gradually over 4 to 6 weeks before you stop using it completely.

Q. Does Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR stop heart attacks?

Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR is prescribed to prevent attacks of heart-related chest pain (angina) in patients with coronary artery disease. In this disease the blood vessels (coronary arteries) which supply blood to the heart become narrowed because of which the heart has to work harder to get enough oxygen. Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR prevents angina by relaxing the blood vessels so that the heart does not have to work very hard. Also, relaxation of coronary arteries increases the oxygen supply to the heart.

In Treatment of Angina (heart-related chest pain)

Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR helps in prevention as well as treatment of angina. Angina is a chest pain that is usually caused by narrowing of the blood vessels which supply your heart. This means your heart does not get enough oxygen. Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR works quickly to relax the muscles and blood vessels in your heart so more blood (and oxygen) gets to your heart. This reduces the pain and discomfort that angina causes.You should take this medicine at the first sign of chest pain. If the first tablet does not work, you can take a second tablet after 5 minutes. However, if your chest pain does not go away after 15 minutes, you should get urgent medical attention. This could be a sign of a heart attack. Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR also helps prevent chest pain if taken before exercising or doing other strenuous activities.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Alcohol:UNSAFE

Consuming alcohol while taking Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).

Pregnancy:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving:UNSAFE

Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Liver:CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

There is limited information available on the use of Angiplat 2.5 Capsule TR in patients with liver disease. Please consult your doctor.
