Apxenta 10 Tablet can be taken with or without food. Take it regularly and do not stop taking the medicine even if you get better until that doctor tells you it is alright to stop. You may need to monitor your weight regularly while taking the medicine as it may cause weight loss.

Using this medicine may cause few common side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. If these side effects persist or get worse, let your doctor know. Your doctor may help with ways to reduce or prevent these symptoms by prescribing you an alternative medicine or by adjusting the dose.

To make sure the medicine is safe for you, before taking this medicine, let your doctor know all the other medicines you are taking. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor first before taking this medicine.

Plaque psoriasis

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Apxenta 10 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Apxenta 10 Tablet is a phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for inflammation associated with psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis, and thereby reduces the signs and symptoms of these conditions.

If you miss a dose of Apxenta 10 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Apxenta 10 Tablet is a well-tolerated medicine. Mild stomach upset may occur early during the treatment.

Monitor your weight regularly as Apxenta 10 Tablet may cause weight loss.

Your doctor will gradually increase the dose from day 1 to day 6 of treatment, after which it may be kept constant.

Tell your doctor immediately if you experience new or worsened depression, suicidal thoughts, other mood changes or unexplained weight loss. 

Q. Is Apxenta 10 Tablet an immunosuppressant?

No, Apxenta 10 Tablet is not an immunosuppressant. It belongs to a class of medicines known as phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitors (PDE4) which work by blocking the activity of PDE4. PDE4 is found in inflammatory cells and blocking it helps in reducing the molecules responsible for inflammation.

Q. How long does it take for Apxenta 10 Tablet to work?

Apxenta 10 Tablet is used to treat plaque psoriasis (red, scaly, thick, itchy, painful patches on skin) and psoriatic arthritis (a condition that causes joint pain and swelling). It is a long-term treatment and may take about 16 weeks to show an improvement.

Q. Can Apxenta 10 Tablet cause depression?

Yes, Apxenta 10 Tablet may cause depression as a side effect. The patient may also develop suicidal thoughts. It should be avoided in patients with a history of depression. In case you develop any of these symptoms, consult your doctor immediately or ask your friends or relatives to help seek medical advice.

Q. Does Apxenta 10 Tablet cause weight reduction?

Yes, Apxenta 10 Tablet may cause a decrease in appetite which may further cause weight loss. You should monitor your weight regularly while on treatment with Apxenta 10 Tablet. In case of significant weight loss, consult your doctor and consider stopping Apxenta 10 Tablet.

Q. How should Apxenta 10 Tablet be taken?

Be sure to take Apxenta 10 Tablet exactly as directed by your doctor. Your doctor will prescribe a low dose initially. This dose will be increased gradually after 6 days. Swallow the tablets whole with water. You can take it with or without food.

Q. Can I take rifampicin along with Apxenta 10 Tablet?

You should not take rifampicin if you are taking Apxenta 10 Tablet. Rifampicin interferes with the working of Apxenta 10 Tablet by decreasing its levels, making it less effective. As a result, you may not see any improvement after taking Apxenta 10 Tablet.

Q. What if I get pregnant during treatment with Apxenta 10 Tablet?

In case you get pregnant while taking Apxenta 10 Tablet, you should inform your doctor immediately. In fact, pregnancy should be avoided during treatment with this medicine. The reason being, according to animal studies, with Apxenta 10 Tablet there may be a risk of baby loss or defects in unborn baby.

In Plaque psoriasis

Plaque psoriasis is the most common form of psoriasis, a condition where the skin cells in the body grow too quickly and form scales and dry patches. They can grow anywhere, but most appear on the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back. Apxenta 10 Tablet reduces the scaly, itchy patches which may develop on the different parts of the body. It may take several months to become fully effective. You should avoid drinking alcohol while having this treatment and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Liver:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Apxenta 10 Tablet is safe to use in patients with liver disease. No dose adjustment of Apxenta 10 Tablet is recommended.
