Axzyb Tablet is an anti-cancer medicine used in the treatment of kidney cancer.

Axzyb Tablet can be taken with or without food, but try to have it at the same time every day to get the most benefits. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.The most common side effects of this medicine include high blood pressure, joint pain, and loss of appetite. Diarrhea, shortness of breath, can be serious sometimes so take medicine to treat it as prescribed by the doctor or stay hydrated. Your doctor may advise for regular blood pressure checkups while you are taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you notice a severe headache, confusion, problems with your eyesight, nausea or vomiting.Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have thyroid problems, liver or bleeding problems or are taking any medicines to treat infections. Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your healthcare team know all medications you are using. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The use of effective contraception by females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.

Kidney cancer

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Axzyb Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Axzyb Tablet is an anti-cancer medication. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps to stop or slow the spread of cancer cells.

The duration of treatment varies from person to person. Your doctor will decide treatment duration based on your condition, response to treatment, and tolerance to side effects. Your doctor may decrease your dose or stop your treatment temporarily or permanently if you experience side effects.

Q. When should I call my doctor right away?

Get medical help right away if you have signs of allergic reaction such as rash, hives, itching, and blisters. Also, let your doctor know if you notice bleeding or blood in your cough, very high blood pressure, signs of thyroid problems such as a change in weight, nervousness, restlessness, weakness, thinning of hair after taking Axzyb Tablet. Also, if you feel sudden mood changes, fast heart rate, change in voice, fever, or chills, visit your doctor without delay.

Q. What lab tests are important before starting Axzyb Tablet?

Your doctor may advise you to undergo lab or medical tests such as blood pressure, thyroid function, kidney function, liver or pancreatic function tests, complete blood counts, urine tests, blood mineral levels including sodium or potassium before starting this medication. Women of childbearing age should have a pregnancy test before starting this medicine.

Q. Who should not take the Axzyb Tablet?

People who are allergic to axitinib or any other ingredient of this medicine should not take Axzyb Tablet. Talk to your doctor if you are not sure.

Q. Does Axzyb Tablet affect fertility?

Yes, this medicine may cause fertility issues in males as well as females. Talk to your doctor before starting your treatment to know about ways to preserve fertility.

Q. I feel exhausted after starting treatment with Axzyb Tablet. What should I do?

General tiredness/fatigue is a common side effect experienced during treatment with Axzyb Tablet. You may need to adjust your schedule to manage fatigue. Take ample amounts of rest and do not indulge in physically exhausting activities. Exercise, such as walking, can help cope up with fatigue.

Q. How do I know if I have developed thyroid problems after taking Axzyb Tablet?

Regular monitoring of thyroid function is recommended before as well as during your treatment with Axzyb Tablet. Your doctor will advise blood tests to assess the same. Tell your doctor if you have symptoms such as feeling more tired than usual, weight gain or loss, sensitivity to hot or cold weather, hair loss, voice changes (such as deepening of the voice), muscle cramps, and aches.

Q. What is Reversible Posterior Leukoencephalopathy Syndrome?

Reversible Posterior Leukoencephalopathy Syndrome (RPLS) is a rare but serious neurological complication associated with the use of Axzyb Tablet. It is characterized by symptoms such as headaches, vision problems, mental changes, seizures, high blood pressure, weakness, and swelling in the brain. This condition is reversible and symptoms subsides once treated. Consult your doctor right away if you experience any of these worrisome episodes while taking Inlyta tablets.

Q. I have swelling in my ankles and feet after I started taking Axzyb Tablets? What does this mean?

This medicine may cause side effects such as excessive tiredness, swelling of the abdomen, legs, or ankles, shortness of breath, or protruding neck veins. These are alarming and indicate chances of developing heart failure. The use of Axzyb Tablet is associated with an increased risk of heart failure events and these symptoms must therefore be taken seriously and addressed at the earliest. Tell your doctor without any delay if you notice any of these episodes.

Store the medicine at room temperature at a dry place beyond the reach of the children and pets to avoid any accidental intake.

In Kidney cancer

Axzyb Tablet is used to treat kidney cancer and its associated symptoms such as blood in the urine, unexplained low back pain or weight loss, fatigue, loss of appetite, etc. It stops cancer growth and prevents multiplication of cancer cells. This restricts the advancement of cancer to other unaffected regions. You need to follow your doctor’s instructions very carefully to recover.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Breast feeding:CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Axzyb Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Driving:UNSAFE

Axzyb Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Axzyb Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Axzyb Tablet is recommended.

Liver:CAUTION

Axzyb Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Axzyb Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Limited information is available on the use of Axzyb Tablet in patients with the severe liver disease.
