Basecort Cream is a topical steroid used for the treatment of mild to moderate inflammatory skin disorders. It prevents the release of substances that cause inflammation and provides relief from swelling, redness, and itching in the affected area.
Basecort Cream is meant only for external use and should be used as advised by your doctor. You should normally clean and dry the affected area before applying a thin layer of the medicine evenly on the affected skin. You should not apply it to open wounds or damaged skin. Use it regularly to get the maximum benefit from it.
It is usually well tolerated with little or no side effects. However, it may cause application site reactions such as burning, irritation, itching, and redness in some people. These side effects are temporary and usually go away with time. However, if they persist or worsen, let your doctor know.
Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers need to consult their doctors before using this medicine. Avoid any contact with your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse it off with plenty of water in case of accidental contact. Avoid covering the treated area with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor.
Basecort Cream is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the medicine or any of its constituent ingredients. Patients with tuberculosis or fungal infections and/or herpes infections of the eyes, lips, or genitals should also avoid the use of Basecort Cream or consult a doctor.
Basecort Cream should not be used under waterproof dressings unless advised to do so by a physician. Basecort Cream should not be used to treat acne. Basecort Cream should not be used for external feminine itching if a vaginal discharge is present. It is not to be used for external anal itching if bleeding is present.

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and apply the cream. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

Basecort Cream is a steroid medicine that inhibits the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins and leukotrienes) that make the skin red, swollen, and itchy. This helps in relieving symptoms associated with skin disorders.
06What If You Miss A Dose?
Q: What if you forget to take Basecort Cream?
A: If you miss a dose of Basecort Cream, apply it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not apply extra to make up for a missed dose.

Basecort Cream is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor.

Basecort Cream should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.

10Drug Tips
Basecort Cream should be applied to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.
Do not use it more often or for longer than advised by your doctor.
Do not cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.
If you think the area of skin you are treating has become infected, you should stop using Basecort Cream and consult your doctor.
Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
