Belina Gel is used in the treatment of melasma. It is a skin-lightening medicine which lightens the darkened skin patches and spots(hyperpigmentation). It reduces the amount of skin-darkening pigment called melanin in the skin. It helps in reversible depigmentation of the skin.

This medicine should be used regularly to get the most benefit from it. Do not use more than you need as some side effects may be increased.
It has a few potential side effects but not everyone will get them. These may include dry skin, itching, skin burn, skin peeling, and skin redness. Serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare but let your doctor know if you’re bothered by side effects or they do not go away. Make sure you read the instructions that come with your medicine. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of accidental contact, you should rinse eyes thoroughly with water.
You can start applying this medicine to a small portion of unbroken skin or near the pigmented area for a period of several days for checking an allergic reactions. You should discontinue it if itching, excessive inflammation or swelling occurs. Pregnant women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine. If no improvement is seen after two months of treatment, the use of this product should be discontinued.

Belina Gel is a combination of five medicines: Hydroquinone, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycolic acid, Kojic Acid, and Lactic Acid. Hydroquinone and Kojic acid are skin lightening medications. They work by reducing the amount of pigment (melanin) that causes the darkening of skin. Sodium Hyaluronate helps in enhancing the appearance of dry and damaged skin by reducing flaking. Lactic Acid helps to moisten dry skin. Glycolic acid works by removing the outermost layer of dead cells and provides you fresh skin.

09Drug Tips
You have been prescribed Belina Gel to reduce skin pigmentation.
Along with applying it, wear long-sleeved clothing, sunglasses, hat whenever you step outside in the hot sun for better protection.
Don’t cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor.
You may also use certain safe cosmetics (after consulting with your doctor) in order to lighten pigmentation.
Before using Belina Gel, inform your doctor if you have any skin problems or are applying any other medicines to your skin.
