Betaderm Plus Lotion is only meant for external use and should be used as advised by your doctor. A thin layer of the medicine should be applied only to the affected areas of the skin with clean and dry hands. If it gets into your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina rinse with water. It may take several days to weeks for your symptoms to improve, but you should keep using this medicine regularly. The course of the treatment should be completed to ensure better efficacy of the medicine. If your condition does not improve or gets worse, you should talk to your doctor.

The most common side effects of this medicine are dryness, itchiness, redness, and burning sensation at the application site. These are usually self-limiting. Serious side effects are rare. You must consult the doctor if you experience any allergic reaction (rashes, itching, swelling, shortness of breath, etc.). Drink plenty of water and apply moisturizing cream or lotion to cope up with the side effects.

Before using this medicine, it is important to tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines for the same disease or other diseases. Treatment of Dermatitis

Betaderm Plus Lotion is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone and Zinc Sulfate. Betamethasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Zinc Sulfate works as an astringent and antiseptic on the skin.

If you miss a dose of Betaderm Plus Lotion, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Betaderm Plus Lotion helps relieve redness and itching associated with inflammatory skin conditions such as dermatitis.

It may cause minor burning, stinging, or irritation when applied. Inform your doctor if this does not go away.

Do not cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.

Do not apply it to broken or infected areas of skin unless instructed by your doctor. 

Avoid contact with your eyes, nose or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get it in these areas.

Do not use this medicine more often or for longer than advised by your doctor. Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after two weeks of treatment.

Use of Betaderm Plus Lotion is considered to be harmful for patients with known allergy to any of the components or excipients of this medicine. Avoid its use in case of any fungal infections (ringworm or athlete’s foot), viral infections (herpes or chickenpox) or for treatment of acne or rosacea. Avoid its use in itchy areas which are not red and around the genitalia and anus. Consult your doctor before using it for any other condition.

Do not use Betaderm Plus Lotion for longer periods of time than advised especially on the face as it may cause thinning of the skin. If it has to be applied over the eyelid, make sure it does not get into your eyes. Unless told by your doctor, do not apply a bandage or dressing to the area being treated, as this will increase absorption of the preparation and increase the risk of side-effects. This medicine should only be used by the patient, never give it to other people even if their condition appears to be the same.

Q. What would happen if I use a higher than the recommended dose of Betaderm Plus Lotion and for long periods?

The dose and duration of using Betaderm Plus Lotion should be strictly according to the doctor’s advice. This medicine when used in higher doses and for long periods can get absorbed in the blood circulation and cause adrenal suppression and Cushing’s syndrome. It can cause weight gain, high blood pressure and rounding of the face. Its application can cause a change in the color of skin. Veins beneath the skin become visible due to the thinning and weakening of the skin. There could be an increased hair growth. If you experience an increased severity of your symptoms, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.

Keep this medicine in the packet or the container it came in. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Keep it away from pets and children.

Betaderm Plus Lotion helps manage the symptoms of dermatitis such as dry, itchy, swollen, red, and painful skin with a burning sensation. It has a soothing effect on the skin and gives relief from itching. Betaderm Plus Lotion also has antiseptic property and thus prevents any infection in the affected area. Apply Betaderm Plus Lotion to the affected area usually up to 3-4 times a day or as directed by your doctor. You may see results after 2-3 weeks however, it may vary from person to person as well as on the severity of the condition.
