This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment.

Betsalic Ointment is a combination of two medicines: Betamethasone and Salicylic Acid which treat eczema and psoriasis. Betamethasone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Salicylic Acid is a keratolytic medicine which breaks down keratin clumps, removes dead skin cells and softens the skin. It also enhances the absorption of Betamethasone into the skin.

If you miss a dose of Betsalic Ointment, apply it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

In Eczema

Eczema is a condition in which patches of skin swells and becomes dry, itchy, rough and red. Betsalic Ointment moisturizes the skin and helps reduce dryness and itchiness. It reduces swelling and redness at the affected area. Apply 1-2 times a day or as prescribed by your doctor. You might see an improvement in your skin after 2 to 3 weeks of treatment.

In Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a skin problem in which skin cells build up and form scales and dry patches which are itchy and painful. Applying Betsalic Ointment helps manage psoriasis symptoms like itching, pain, redness, swelling or irritation. It moisturizes the skin and makes it soft and smooth. Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Betsalic Ointment may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Please consult your doctor.

Breast feeding:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Betsalic Ointment is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Betsalic Ointment is used to treat the redness, swelling, itching, and discomfort associated with psoriasis and eczema.

It is advisable to apply it once a day. For best effect, leave it on during the day if you have applied it in the morning, or overnight if you have used it in the evening.

Apply to the affected areas as a thin film two or three times daily, or as advised by your doctor.

Don’t cover the area being treated with airtight dressings such as bandages unless directed by a doctor, as this may increase the risk of side effects.

If you are using a moisturizer along with this preparation, apply the moisturizer first. Then wait 10-15 minutes before applying Betsalic Ointment.

After you have applied Betsalic Ointment, remember to wash your hands (unless your hands are the treated area).

Do not apply this medicine to your face unless your doctor has asked you to. If you have been told to use it on your face, be careful not to get any preparation near your eyes, and do not use it for longer periods of time than you have been advised.

Do not apply it on open wounds and cuts.

Your skin may become more sensitive to sunlight than normal while you are using Betsalic Ointment. Try to avoid sitting out in the sun and do not use sunbeds.

Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 2 weeks of treatment.
