BMP-Forte Capsule can be taken with or without food. It should be used in the dose and duration as prescribed by your doctor. It is advised to take this medicine at a fixed time. Do not take more than the recommended dose.

BMP-Forte Capsule is usually safe with very minimal side effects. However, if you experience severe diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, or any signs of an allergic reaction, please consult your doctor. Also, before taking this medicine, tell your doctor about all other health conditions that you have.

BMP-Forte Capsule is a combination of five medicines: Benfotiamine, Folic Acid, Methylcobalamin, Pregabalin and Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine). Benfotiamine and Folic Acid provide essential nutrients to the nerves. Methylcobalamin and Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) are forms of vitamin B which help in the production of myelin, a substance that protects nerve fibers and rejuvenates damaged nerve cells. Pregabalin is an alpha 2 delta ligand which decreases pain by modulating calcium channel activity of the nerve cells. Together, they relieve neuropathic pain (pain from damaged nerves).

If you miss a dose of BMP-Forte Capsule, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

BMP-Forte Capsule is used to treat certain types of long-lasting pain caused by damage to nerves.

It might cause dizziness and sleepiness, do not drive or use tools or machines.

Inform your doctor if you are taking any other pain-relieving medicines.

Along with taking BMP-Forte Capsule, your doctor might advise you to undergo physiotherapy to get relief from pain.

BMP-Forte Capsule is a combination of five medicines: Pregabalin, Methylcobalamin, Folic acid, Benfotiamine, and vitamin B6. This medicine is useful in the treatment of nerve pain (neuropathic pain). This medicine calms the damaged or overactive nerves by acting on the brain, thereby decreasing the pain sensation. It also helps in the regeneration of damaged nerves in the body.

Q. Can I stop taking BMP-Forte Capsule when my pain is relieved?

No, you should not stop taking BMP-Forte Capsule even if your pain is relieved. Continue to take it as advised by your doctor. If you stop taking BMP-Forte Capsule suddenly, you may experience withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, sleeping difficulties, nausea, pain, and sweating. You may need to gradually taper the use of BMP-Forte Capsule before you stop the medication completely.

Q. How to manage weight gain associated with the use of BMP-Forte Capsule?

BMP-Forte Capsule can make you feel hungry, making you eat more, thereby increasing your chances of putting on weight. However, preventing weight gain is easier than losing increased weight. Try to eat a healthy balanced diet without increasing your portion sizes (per-meal intake). Do not eat food items that contain a lot of calories, such as soft drinks, oily food, chips, cakes, biscuits, and sweets. If you feel hungry between meals, eat fruits, vegetables, and low-calorie foods. Regular exercise will also help prevent weight gain. If you maintain good eating habits and exercise regularly, you might not gain any weight.

Q. Can the use of BMP-Forte Capsule cause sleepiness or drowsiness?

Yes, BMP-Forte Capsule may make you feel drowsy or you may suddenly fall asleep during your daily activities. Sometimes, you might not even feel drowsy or have any other warning signs before you suddenly fall asleep. Avoid driving a car, operating machinery, working at heights, or participating in potentially dangerous activities until you know how the medicine affects you. Inform your doctor if you experience such episodes while taking this medicine.

Q. Are there any serious side effects associated with the use of BMP-Forte Capsule?

Serious side effects with BMP-Forte Capsule are uncommon and rare. However, it may cause serious side effects like an allergic reaction, suicidal thoughts, or swelling of limbs (hands, legs, or feet). Stop taking BMP-Forte Capsule and contact your doctor if you have any signs of these serious side effects. Signs of an allergic reaction include swelling of your face, mouth, lips, gums, tongue, and neck, trouble in breathing, skin rash, hives (raised bumps), or blisters. Pay attention to sudden changes in mood, behaviors, thoughts, or feelings a these may be a symptom of suicidal thoughts.

An initial benefit with BMP-Forte Capsule may be seen after 2 weeks of treatment. However, it may take around 2-3 months to see the full benefit. It may take even longer for some patients.

Q. What if I forget to take BMP-Forte Capsule?

If you forget to take the scheduled dose of BMP-Forte Capsule and it is almost time for your next dose, skip the dose you missed and take your next dose at the scheduled time. Otherwise, take it as soon as you remember, and then go back to taking your medicine as you would normally. Do not take a double dose to make up for the dose you missed because this may increase the risk of unwanted side effects. If you are not sure what to do, consult your doctor about how to manage a situation like this.

Q. What if I take too much of this drug by mistake?

In a situation like this, contact your doctor immediately or seek emergency help at the nearest hospital. Do this even if there are no signs of discomfort or poisoning. You may need urgent medical attention. Symptoms of an overdose may include drowsiness, weakness, unsteady when walking, having double visions, slurred speech or diarrhea, confusion, blurred vision, dizziness, body temperature changes (low and high), difficulty in breathing, and increased heartbeat.

No, taking a higher than the recommended dose may not be more effective, rather it may increase the chances of having some serious side effects and toxicity. If you experience increased severity of your symptoms, that is not relieved by the recommended doses, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.

No, do not drink alcohol while taking BMP-Forte Capsule. Drinking alcohol can increase the severity of drowsiness or sleepiness caused by BMP-Forte Capsule.

Keep this medicine in the packet or the container it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children, and other people.

In Treatment of Neuropathic pain

BMP-Forte Capsule is a combination of medicines used to treat long-lasting (chronic) pain caused by nerve damage due to diabetes, shingles, or spinal cord injury. It reduces pain and its associated symptoms such as mood changes, sleep problems, and tiredness. Pregabalin, an active ingredient of this medicine, is thought to work by interfering with pain signals that travel through the damaged nerves and the brain. It also contains nutritional supplements that improve nerve conduction.Taking this medicine regularly will improve your physical and social functioning and overall quality of life. It takes a few weeks to work so you need to take it regularly even if you feel it is not doing any good.
