Carnival Capsule should be taken with food and it should be chewed thoroughly before swallowing. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Do not start or stop taking this medicine without a doctor’s prescription.

Carnival Capsule is usually a safe medicine, however, it may cause nausea and vomiting. Your doctor may suggest you to monitor your blood glucose levels regularly while you are taking the medicine.

Before starting the medicine, inform your doctor if you have any other medical conditions or are taking any other medications. Patients with severe kidney disease should not take this medicine unless prescribed by the doctor.

Q. Is Carnival Capsule a steroid?

Carnival Capsule is not a steroid. It contains Levo-carnitine which is a type of protein (made from the amino acids lysine and methionine). It helps in transporting fats to the cells, where fats get metabolized in order to produce energy. It is used to treat primary and secondary Levo-carnitine deficiency.

Q. When can a carnitine deficiency occur?

Carnitine deficiency may be of two types, primary and secondary. Primary is genetic and may show symptoms by five years of age. Whereas, secondary may occur due to certain disorders like kidney problems (chronic kidney failure) and use of antibiotics that reduces its absorption and increases its excretion.

Q. Does warfarin have any effect on Carnival Capsule?

In some patients, warfarin when taken along with Carnival Capsule may increase the time required for the formation of blood clot. Hence, before starting Carnival Capsule, inform your doctor if you are taking warfarin.

Q. What is the best time to take Carnival Capsule?

Carnival Capsule should be taken as directed by your doctor. Generally, it is advised to be taken 3-4 times daily, preferably with meals or after meals.

Q. Can Carnival Capsule be taken by diabetics?

Yes, Carnival Capsule can be taken by patients with diabetes. However, it is important to know that it contains sucrose. Some studies have shown that it may improve insulin sensitivity. Along with that, it may also be helpful in relieving nerve pain.

Q. Does Carnival Capsule cause diarrhea?

Carnival Capsule may very rarely cause diarrhea. This effect of the medicine can be reduced by decreasing the dose of Carnival Capsule. But, if you are taking oral solution then take it slowly or dilute it more.

In Carnitine deficiency

Carnitine deficiency can lead to many problems such as muscle weakness, fatigue, problems with heart (such as heart enlargement), liver or brain (encephalopathy), confusion etc. Carnival Capsule contains amino acids that are very important for the normal growth and development of the internal organs, muscles and nerves. Carnival Capsule is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving:SAFE

Carnival Capsule does not usually affect your ability to drive.

Kidney:CAUTION

Carnival Capsule should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Carnival Capsule may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Carnival Capsule is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Carnival Capsule may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
