Desirox 500 Tablet should be taken on an empty stomach. Take it in the exact dose and duration and take it regularly at a fixed time each day to get the maximum benefit from it.

Using of Desirox 500 Tablet may cause common side effects such as nausea, headache, constipation, diarrhea, and increased liver enzyme. If the side effects persist or worsen, inform your doctor.

Before using this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any kidney or liver diseases. Let your doctor also know about all the other medicines you are taking to ensure your safety.

Treatment of Iron overload

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Desirox 500 Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

Desirox 500 Tablet traps and removes excess iron which is then excreted mainly in the stools. This reduces the risk of organ damage.

If you miss a dose of Desirox 500 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Desirox 500 Tablet is used to reduce excess iron from the body.

Inform your doctor if you also have upper stomach pain, clay-colored stools, or jaundice (yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes).

Take an adequate amount of water while taking Desirox 500 Tablet. 

Desirox 500 Tablet may cause dizziness. It is advisable not to drive or operate any machinery until you feel normal again.

If you are taking any antacid, take them 2 hours before or after Desirox 500 Tablet.

Inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney disease.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Desirox 500 Tablet works by binding to excess iron in the blood and removing it from the body through stool.

In Treatment of Iron overload

Iron overload, as the name suggests, means excess of iron in the human body. Too much iron can cause organ damage, which can lead to conditions such as cancer, irregular heartbeat and cirrhosis of the liver. Symptoms are related to conditions that arise from iron overload such as high blood sugar levels (diabetes), darkening of the skin, abnormal heart rhythm or arthritis. By using Desirox 500 Tablet, this excess of iron can be decreased to safe levels by removing it from the body through stools. This helps to reduce the risk of organ damage and prevents further complications. Take Desirox 500 Tablet as prescribed by the doctor to get the maximum benefit.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Breast feeding:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Desirox 500 Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving:UNSAFE

Desirox 500 Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney:UNSAFE

Desirox 500 Tablet is probably unsafe to use in patients with kidney disease and should be avoided. Please consult your doctor.

Liver:CAUTION

Desirox 500 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Desirox 500 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Limited information is available on the use of Desirox 500 Tablet in these patients.
