Eltromag 50 Tablet is used to treat low platelet count due to chronic immune (idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) or chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. It is also used to treat severe aplastic anemia.

Eltromag 50 Tablet is a thrombopoietin agonist. It works by stimulating the formation of new platelets in the blood. The function of platelets is to help reduce bleeding.

Take it in the exact dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You may take it on an empty stomach. This medicine is to be swallowed as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Inform your doctor if you have any known allergies to this medication.

The common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, upper respiratory tract infection, and urinary tract infection. Let your doctor know if any of these side effects bother you. They may be able able to suggest ways to reduce or treat the symptoms.

Before you take this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any preexisting medical conditions. Let your doctor also know about all the other medicines you are taking. Dose adjustments may be required in patients with liver diseases, inform your doctor.

A: If you miss a dose of Eltromag 50 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

Take Eltromag 50 Tablet on an empty stomach, either 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals.

Take Eltromag 50 Tablet at least 2 hours before or 4 hours after eating dairy products and calcium-fortified juices.

Yes, you may need to avoid certain dairy foods such as cheese, butter, etc. and mineral and vitamin supplements while taking this medicine. Avoid taking these foods four hours before and two hours after taking Eltromag 50 Tablet. If you take these food items or supplements, the medicine may not get absorbed into your body, thereby not acting properly.

Q. How should I store Eltromag 50 Tablet?

This medicine can be stored at room temperature between 20°C to 25°C. Close the bottle tightly and do not remove the desiccant pack if present inside the bottle as it helps to keep the medicine dry.

Q. Can Eltromag 50 Tablet cause serious side effects?

Eltromag 50 Tablet can cause serious side effects like liver problems. The symptoms of liver disease include yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes, pain in the upper right area of the stomach, unusual darkening of the urine, and unusual tiredness. The risk of liver problems increases if the patient is infected with hepatitis C virus or is being treated for it. Taking this medicine may also increase the platelet count in the blood, increasing the risk of developing blood clots. This in turn increases your risk of getting a heart attack or stroke and may prove fatal in some cases. Ideally, regular blood tests are done to monitor the liver functions and platelet count while taking Eltromag 50 Tablet. Its use can also worsen cataract, leading to blurring of vision. Consult your doctor immediately if you notice any of the side effects.

If you miss a dose of Eltromag 50 Tablet, you should wait and take your next scheduled dose. Do not take more than one dose of this medicine in a single day. Taking a double dose of this medicine in a single day can increase the risk of side effects.

In Treatment of Severe Aplastic Anemia

Eltromag 50 Tablet is also used in combination with other medications to treat aplastic anemia, a condition in which the body does not make enough new blood cells, in adults and children 2 years of age and above. Take it as advised by the doctor to get the most benefits.

Eltromag 50 Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Driving:UNSAFE

Eltromag 50 Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.Eltromag 50 Tablet can make you dizzy and have other side effects that make you less alert. This may affect your driving ability.

Kidney:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Eltromag 50 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Eltromag 50 Tablet is recommended.However, inform your doctor if you have a kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function tests may is advisable while you are taking this medicine.

Liver:CAUTION

Eltromag 50 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Eltromag 50 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
