Enfurin SR Tablet should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You may take it with food to avoid nausea, which is a common side effect. It is better to have this medicine at the same time each day to get the most benefit and you should keep on taking this medicine for as long as you are prescribed it, even if your symptoms quickly improve. If you stop taking it too early the infection may return or worsen.

Some people may develop side effects like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. These side effects are usually temporary and go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if these side effects bother you or do not go away. This medicine may turn your urine into dark yellow or brown color. But, this is normal and nothing to worry about.

Before starting treatment with this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or suffering from any liver, kidney or heart problems or if you are allergic to any antibiotic.

Treatment of Bacterial infections of urinary tract

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Enfurin SR Tablet is to be taken with food.

Enfurin SR Tablet is an antibiotic. It works by killing the bacteria in the urine that causes infection.

If you miss a dose of Enfurin SR Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Enfurin SR Tablet treats and prevents uncomplicated urinary tract infections.

Finish the prescribed course of the medicine, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.

If you do not start feeling better within 3 days of starting Enfurin SR Tablet or your condition worsens, contact your doctor. It is important to complete the full course of Enfurin SR Tablet as advised by your doctor, even if you start feeling better.

Q. What happens if you take Enfurin SR Tablet without food?

You should take Enfurin SR Tablet with your meal or straightaway after the meal. Taking with food helps in absorption of medicine so that it works better. If you take it without food, you are likely to get an upset stomach. The symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, and loss of appetite may also occur. Therefore, to avoid unpleasant side effects, take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

Q. Does Enfurin SR Tablet make your urine orange?

Enfurin SR Tablet may turn your urine brown or dark yellow in colour. However, you need not worry as this is usually temporary and completely harmless effect. It will disappear once you stop taking Enfurin SR Tablet. Consult your doctor if you are not sure or still have any concern, but do not stop taking Enfurin SR Tablet.

Q. Can Enfurin SR Tablet give you a yeast infection?

Yes, some people may get a fungal or yeast infection known as ‘thrush’ after taking Enfurin SR Tablet. This is because antibiotics kill the ‘good bacteria’ which help in preventing thrush. You should inform your doctor if you get vaginal itching or discharge after taking Enfurin SR Tablet or soon after stopping it.

Q. Is Enfurin SR Tablet a strong antibiotic?

Yes, Enfurin SR Tablet is a strong antibiotic (or broad spectrum antibiotic), which means that it is effective against a wide variety of urinary bacteria. It is important that Enfurin SR Tablet should be given to treat or prevent infections that are proven to be caused by susceptible bacteria. This is usually evaluated by a culture test which demonstrates a range of bacteria which cannot grow in the prence of an antibiotic. Enfurin SR Tablet has seen to be effective against UTI caused by Escherichia coli, Enteroccus faecalis, Klebsiella species, Enterobacter species, Staphylococcus species: (eg S. aureus, S. saprophyticus, S. epidermidis). Some strains of Enterobacter and Klebsiella are resistant to Enfurin SR Tablet.

In Treatment of Bacterial infections of urinary tract

Enfurin SR Tablet works by stopping the growth of the bacteria in the urine that cause urinary tract infections. This medicine usually makes you feel better quite quickly. However, you should continue taking it as long as it is prescribed even when you feel better, to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Consuming alcohol while taking Enfurin SR Tablet may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).

Pregnancy:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Enfurin SR Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding:CAUTION

Enfurin SR Tablet should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.

Driving:UNSAFE

Enfurin SR Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney:CAUTION

Enfurin SR Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Enfurin SR Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Enfurin SR Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease, who are unable to pass urine or have high creatinine levels.

Liver:CAUTION

Enfurin SR Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Enfurin SR Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Enfurin SR Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
