Finish the prescribed course of the medicine, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat.

Yes, Furakem 100mg Tablet MR is a strong antibiotic (or broad spectrum antibiotic), which means that it is effective against a wide variety of urinary bacteria. It is important that Furakem 100mg Tablet MR should be given to treat or prevent infections that are proven to be caused by susceptible bacteria. This is usually evaluated by a culture test which demonstrates a range of bacteria which cannot grow in the prence of an antibiotic. Furakem 100mg Tablet MR has seen to be effective against UTI caused by Escherichia coli, Enteroccus faecalis, Klebsiella species, Enterobacter species, Staphylococcus species: (eg S. aureus, S. saprophyticus, S. epidermidis). Some strains of Enterobacter and Klebsiella are resistant to Furakem 100mg Tablet MR.

Furakem 100mg Tablet MR works by stopping the growth of the bacteria in the urine that cause urinary tract infections. This medicine usually makes you feel better quite quickly. However, you should continue taking it as long as it is prescribed even when you feel better, to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.

Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Consuming alcohol while taking Furakem 100mg Tablet MR may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart beat, nausea, thirst, chest pain and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).

Furakem 100mg Tablet MR is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding:CAUTION

Furakem 100mg Tablet MR should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the treatment of the mother is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body.

Driving:UNSAFE

Furakem 100mg Tablet MR may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney:CAUTION

Furakem 100mg Tablet MR should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Furakem 100mg Tablet MR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Furakem 100mg Tablet MR is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease, who are unable to pass urine or have high creatinine levels.

Liver:CAUTION

Furakem 100mg Tablet MR should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Furakem 100mg Tablet MR may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Use of Furakem 100mg Tablet MR is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
