Use of this medicine may cause burning sensation, stinging, and irritation at the application site. These are usually temporary and resolve with time. However, if they persist or get worse, inform your doctor. In case of accidental contact with your ears, nose, or mouth, immediately rinse it with water.
Inform your doctor if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients in this medicine or if you are taking any other medication. Opthodex Eye Drop is a combination of two medicines: Chloramphenicol and Dexamethasone. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic which stops bacterial growth in the eye by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by the bacteria to carry out vital functions. Dexamethasone is a steroid. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen and itchy.

10Drug Tips
Your doctor has prescribed Opthodex Eye Drop to cure your eye infection and improve your symptoms.
Use it twice a day (in the morning and the evening). If your symptoms are particularly severe, your doctor may suggest you use them up to four times a day.
Wash your hands first before applying Opthodex Eye Drop. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface. If it does, squeeze out two or three drops straightaway onto some tissue and rinse the tip with saltwater.
Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute, immediately after instilling the medication. This will prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink or rub your eye.
Do not wear contact lenses until your infection clears up.
Eye infections can cause your eyes to become more sensitive to sunlight than usual. Wearing sunglasses may help to prevent this.
Along with using Opthodex Eye Drop, give a warm compress to your eyes to get relief from itching and burning sensation.
Take care to avoid spreading the infection from one eye to the other, and to other members of your family. Washing your hands regularly (particularly after touching your eyes) and not sharing towels or pillows will help to prevent the infection from spreading.
