This does not directly kill the bacteria, but prevents them from increasing in numbers, and eventually clears up the infection. Prednisolone is a steroid which works by blocking the production of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause inflammation (redness and swelling) and allergies. Acetic acid belongs to the class of medications called antibacterial and antifungal agents. It works by maintaining the pH thereby preventing the growth of bacteria and fungi. Benzocaine works by blocking pain signals from the peripheral nerves to brain which decreases the sensation of pain. Thus, Otinex Ear Drop treats ear infections.
If you miss a dose of Otinex Ear Drop, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
Otinex Ear Drop must be used as per dose and duration suggested by the doctor.
Do not touch the tip to any surface, or to your ear, to avoid contamination.
Talk to your doctor if your symptoms haven’t started to improve within two days of starting treatment, if they get worse during treatment or if you get another ear infection.
Avoid contact with your eyes, nose or mouth. Rinse it off with water if you accidentally get the drop in these areas.
Stop using medicine and inform your doctor if you notice ear irritation, burning sensation or allergic reaction.
