Pentaxim Vaccine injection must be administered under the supervision of a healthcare professional. You should not take it if you have any known allergy from this injection.

The most common side effects include loss of appetite, nervousness, irritability, unusual crying, sleepiness, vomiting, injection site redness, swelling, pain, and induration, fever, diarrhea, insomnia, and sleep disorder. If any of these side effects or any other symptoms which you think are because of this medicine persist for a longer duration, please inform your doctor.

Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or suffering from any other diseases. This medicine is safe to use in breastfeeding mothers and patients suffering from liver and kidney diseases. It is advised to avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.

Q. Can Pentaxim Vaccine be given to children with a weak immune system?

Yes, Pentaxim Vaccine can be given to children with a weak immune system. The weak immune system could be due to some underlying disease or if the child is treated with drugs that may weaken his/her immune system like steroids, cytotoxic drugs or radiotherapy. Vaccination may need to be delayed until the treatment is complete. Inform the doctor about the immune system of the child before vaccination.

Q. How is Pentaxim Vaccine stored?

Pentaxim Vaccine should be stored in the refrigerator between 2°C – 8°C. Do not freeze. Do not use if you notice an abnormal color or the presence of foreign particles. Keep it out of sight and reach of children.

Q. What are the contraindications associated with the use of Pentaxim Vaccine?

Use of Pentaxim Vaccine is not recommended in children with a known allergy to this vaccine or any of its components. The use of this vaccine is not recommended in case the child suffers from encephalopathy or has recently developed an acute illness.

In Prevention of Tetanus

Tetanus is a serious bacterial infection that affects the nervous system and causes muscles throughout the body to become stiff and tighten. Pentaxim Vaccine helps prevent tetanus infection. It helps the immune system to produce antibodies to fight against tetanus infection. However, it does not provide lifelong protection. A booster shot is also recommended. In Prevention of Diphtheria

Diphtheria is a bacterial infection that causes pain and swelling in the throat. This might cause difficulty in breathing. It might also damage the heart, kidneys and nerves. In Prevention of Influenza (flu)

Influenza is a viral infection that attacks your respiratory system (nose, throat and lungs) and is often called the flu. Pentaxim Vaccine protects against influenza virus and is generally effective within two weeks of administration. In Prevention of Pertussis

Pertussis (often called whooping cough) is an infection of the airways that can occur at any age but mostly affects infants and young children. The infection causes uncontrollable coughing that can make it difficult to breathe. Pentaxim Vaccine gives protection from pertussis. In Prevention of Polio

Polio is a life-threatening disease caused by the polio virus. It can spread from person to person and can infect the brain and spinal cord causing paralysis (unable to move body parts).
