Perinorm Tablet

Perinorm Tablet is taken before meals preferably at bedtime in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should take this medicine until your doctor tells you to stop. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are restlessness, fatigue, and weakness. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. It also causes drowsiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it can worsen your sleepiness. This medicine may also cause diarrhea, so it is better to take plenty of fluids while taking this medicine as it may help to prevent dehydration.

Before taking this medicine, you should let your doctor know if you have liver or kidney problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor.

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Perinorm Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

Perinorm Tablet is a prokinetic. It works on the region in the brain that controls vomiting. It also acts on the upper digestive tract to increase the movement of the stomach and intestines, allowing food to move more easily through the stomach.

If you miss a dose of Perinorm Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Perinorm Tablet helps relieve nausea, vomiting, indigestion and heartburn.

It may cause dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how it affects you.

Avoid consuming alcohol when taking Perinorm Tablet as it may cause excessive drowsiness.

Inform your doctor if you get watery diarrhea, fever, or stomach pain that does not go away.

Q. Does Perinorm Tablet work for morning sickness?

Perinorm Tablet can help in relieving morning sickness. However, this is not an approved indication for its use. There are other medicines also available to treat morning sickness. Consult a doctor if you need treatment for morning sickness as you should not take any medicine during pregnancy without consulting a doctor.

Q. Can I take Perinorm Tablet with ranitidine?

Perinorm Tablet can be taken with ranitidine. No drug-drug interactions have been reported between the two. However, interactions can occur. Talk to your doctor before taking the two medicines together.

In Treatment of Nausea

Perinorm Tablet blocks the action of chemicals in the body that can make you feel or be sick. It is often used to prevent nausea and vomiting that may be caused due to some medicines or cancer treatment. This medicine helps you recover more comfortably from cancer treatments such as radiation therapy or chemotherapy. It is also effective at preventing nausea and vomiting after an operation (in adults only). The dose will depend on what you are being treated for but always take this medicine as it is prescribed.

In Treatment of Indigestion

Indigestion means discomfort of mainly the upper part of your stomach which may also have other symptoms such as stomach pain, bloating, feeling full etc. Perinorm Tablet improves the movement of food in your stomach and gut (intestine). This relieves these symptoms and helps in proper digestion of food.Take Perinorm Tablet as prescribed by the doctor. Think about what foods trigger indigestion and try to avoid them; eat smaller, more frequent meals; try to lose weight if you are overweight, and try to find ways to relax. Do not eat within 3-4 hours of going to bed.

In Treatment of Heartburn

Heartburn is a burning feeling in your chest caused by stomach acids traveling back up towards your throat and mouth (acid reflux). Perinorm Tablet improves the movement of food in the stomach and helps prevent heartburn.Some simple lifestyle changes can help stop or reduce heartburn. Most side effects do not require any medical attention and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if they persist or if you’re worried about them

Perinorm Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding:CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR

Perinorm Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.

Driving:UNSAFE

Perinorm Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.Perinorm Tablet may cause drowsiness, dizziness, dyskinesia and dystonias which could affect the vision and may interfere with the ability to drive.

Kidney:CAUTION

Perinorm Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Perinorm Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.

Liver:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Perinorm Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Perinorm Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
