Polio is a life-threatening disease caused by the poliovirus. It can spread from person to person and can infect the brain and spinal cord causing paralysis (unable to move body parts). Primopol Oral Poliovirus Vaccine gives protection against polio virus. It works by helping the immune system to produce antibodies to fight against the virus. All children need 4 doses of the polio vaccine as part of their routine vaccine schedule starting at 2 months through 6 years of age.
