Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Montu 10mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

Texaflo OR Oral Suspension contains three medicines Ofloxacin, Ornidazole, and Racecadotril. Together, these ingredients prove effective against diarrhea and dysentery. Racecadotril is an enkephalinase inhibitor that has anti-secretory effects. Simply put, this particular active ingredient reduces the secretion of water and electrolytes from the intestine. This helps reduce the amount of fluid lost from the body in diarrhea. Ofloxacin is an antibiotic. It kills bacteria by preventing them from reproducing and causing infection. Ornidazole is also an antibiotic that kills other microorganisms in addition to bacteria by damaging their DNA.

Q: What if I forget to give Texaflo OR Oral Suspension to my child?
A: Do not panic. You can give the missed dose medicine as soon as you remember unless your child’s doctor has advised otherwise. Remember not to double the dose to catch up with the missed one. In case of any confusion, do consult your child’s doctor.

Texaflo OR Oral Suspension should be used together with an oral rehydration solution (ORS) to provide adequate fluid and electrolyte replacement.

Give your child plenty of fluids to replenish water and mineral loss.

Texaflo OR Oral Suspension may cause an altered taste. Eating citrus fruit or sipping plenty of water or fruit juice may help.

Do not mix Texaflo OR Oral Suspension along with any other herbal or ayurvedic medicine as it can harm.

Do not give Texaflo OR Oral Suspension if your child has persistent uncontrolled vomiting as this medicine will not be absorbed.

Q. What if I give too much Texaflo OR Oral Suspension by mistake?

Though an extra dose of Texaflo OR Oral Suspension is unlikely to harm, you must immediately speak to the doctor. The reason being, overdose may cause unwanted side effects such as seizures, tremors, severe headache, sudden weakness, unconsciousness, and palpitations (irregularities of heartbeat). In case you notice any of these side effects, rush to your child’s doctor on an immediate basis.

Q. My child is one year old and is suffering from a neurological disorder. Is it safe to give Texaflo OR Oral Suspension?

Usually, Texaflo OR Oral Suspension does not enter into the central nervous system and lacks the potential to cause serious side effects such as neurotoxicity. However, if given to children aged less than 2 years of age, it may enter the brain as they have underdeveloped membranes. Consult your child’s doctor before giving Texaflo OR Oral Suspension in such a condition.

Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Texaflo OR Oral Suspension?

Texaflo OR Oral Suspension can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Texaflo OR Oral Suspension. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Q. My child is suffering from long-term (chronic) diarrhea. Can I give Texaflo OR Oral Suspension?

The use of Texaflo OR Oral Suspension in chronic diarrhea has not been sufficiently studied. Therefore, it is best to consult your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Q. Can I get my child vaccinated while on treatment with Texaflo OR Oral Suspension?

Antibiotics usually do not interfere with the ingredients in vaccines or cause a bad reaction in a child who has just been vaccinated. However, children taking antibiotics should not get vaccinated until they recover from the illness. As soon as your child feels better, the vaccine can be given.

In Treatment of Diarrhea

Diarrhea refers to the passing of loose, watery stools three or more times a day. It usually happens due to an infection in the gastrointestinal tract. Texaflo OR Oral Suspension reduces the excessive secretion of water and electrolytes and helps replenish the lost fluids and salts. It also helps treat loose stools and prevents abdominal distension or flatulence. Your child needs to take this medicine regularly for the duration prescribed by the doctor as that will help get the most out of it. Encourage your child to drink plenty of fluids while taking it to stay hydrated. Your child may start to feel better after getting treated for a few days to a week. However, do not extend the course or stop the medicine by yourself without consulting your child’s doctor. This may lead to the recurrence of symptoms.
