Torpres 20 MD Tablet belongs to a group of medicines called diuretics or water tablets. It is used to reduce the swelling (edema) caused by too much water in the body in people who have heart failure, liver disease, or kidney disease. This medicine is also used to treat high blood pressure.

Torpres 20 MD Tablet helps your body get rid of extra water and salt through urine. It may be used alone or in combination with other medicines as per the dose advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food and should be taken at the same time each day. It is best to avoid taking this medicine within 4 hours of your bedtime to prevent having to get up at night to urinate.

It is important to continue taking this medication even if you feel well. If you stop taking it without consulting your doctor, your condition may worsen. Lifestyle changes like reducing stress, restricting salt intake, and stopping smoking may help this medication work better.

Common side effects of this medicine include headache, dizziness, dehydration, decreased blood pressure, and stomach upset. These are usually mild and disappear after a short time. Consult your doctor if they bother you or do not go away.

Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any liver problems. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking it. Regular monitoring of kidney function and electrolyte levels is important while using this medicine. Torpres 20 MD Tablet is a diuretic. It removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body by increasing the amount of urine produced.

Q: What if you forget to take Torpres Tablet MD?
A: If you miss a dose of Torpres 20 MD Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Take it in the morning with breakfast to avoid getting up at night to urinate.

Monitor your blood pressure after starting Torpres 20 MD Tablet, and notify your doctor if it does not lower down.

Consult your doctor if you experience dizziness, tiredness, or muscle weakness that does not go away.

The common side effects of Torpres 20 MD Tablet include headache, dizziness, dehydration, constipation, decreased blood pressure and stomach upset. Some of the serious side effects of Torpres 20 MD Tablet include dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, rapid or excessive weight loss, vomiting blood, chest pain, difficulty breathing or swallowing, blisters or peeling skin, hives, rash, and itching. Yes, Torpres 20 MD Tablet may cause a mild increase in creatinine values depending on the dose you are taking. These increased creatinine levels may increase slightly more when this medicine is used for long term. However, with discontinuation of the treatment, these levels return to their base value.

Q. Does Torpres 20 MD Tablet cause loss of potassium?

Torpres 20 MD Tablet may not cause direct potassium loss. But, in some cases, its use may cause excess loss of water which may lead to dehydration. This, as a result, may cause loss of potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium.

Q. My blood pressure is controlled now. Can I stop taking Torpres 20 MD Tablet?

Do not stop taking Torpres 20 MD Tablet without talking to your doctor. Stopping the medicine may not overshoot your blood pressure levels but may make your condition as it was before treatment. Therefore, discuss this with your doctor who will advise you to change the medicine or the dosage as per your requirement.

Q. How should Torpres 20 MD Tablet be taken?

Take Torpres 20 MD Tablet exactly as advised by your doctor. Generally, it is recommended to take Torpres 20 MD Tablet once daily preferably at the same time each day. Torpres 20 MD Tablet is known to cause excess urination, and hence it is advised to take it in the morning.

Pregnancy:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Torpres 20 MD Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Torpres 20 MD Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving:UNSAFE

Torpres 20 MD Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED

Torpres 20 MD Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Torpres 20 MD Tablet is recommended.However, inform your doctor if you have any kidney disease as the use of Torpres 20 MD Tablet should be avoided in case you are unable to pass urine or the kidney damage is due to some medicines.

Liver:CAUTION

Torpres 20 MD Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Torpres 20 MD Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
