Tridep 25mg Tablet is a tricyclic antidepressant. It is mostly used to treat depression that is unresponsive to alternative treatment. It is also used in the management of anxiety disorder.

Tridep 25mg Tablet works by increasing the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that stabilizes and enhances the mood. It is better to take it before bedtime because it can make you feel drowsy. It can be taken with or without food, but you should take it at a fixed time each day for better efficacy. The dose and duration will be decided by your doctor so that you get the right amount to control your symptoms. Do not skip any dose and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. This medication must not be stopped suddenly without talking to the doctor. Your dose may be modified or gradually decreased before stopping the medication.

The most common side effects of Tridep 25mg Tablet include increased heart rate, blurred vision, dryness in the mouth, and constipation. Initially, this medicine may also cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, especially when you change positions. It may even cause dizziness and sleepiness, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. It may also lead to weight gain in some people. Most of the common side effects tend to be mild and temporary. Your doctor may be able to suggest ways of preventing or reducing them. Serious side effects associated with this medicine are rare.

Before taking this medicine, it is important to tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines for the same or any other diseases. No. Tridep 25mg Tablet is not a muscle relaxant. It is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) used in the treatment of depression, nerve pain, and anxiety disorder.

Q. What is the difference between Tridep 25mg Tablet and amitriptyline?

Tridep 25mg Tablet is chemically related to Amitriptyline and both are tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) medicine. There is overlap in pharmacological property of this medicine.

Q. Is Tridep 25mg Tablet the same as doxepin?

Tridep 25mg Tablet and doxepin are different medicines but belong to the similar chemical class. Doxepin, at low doses, can improve sleep in patients with insomnia. It is also available in the topical form for use in various neuro-dermatitis syndrome, especially itching.

Q. How to stop Tridep 25mg Tablet?

If your doctor asks you to stop Tridep 25mg Tablet, you should reduce the dose slowly over 4 weeks. You should not discontinue it abruptly. Sudden discontinuation may cause aggression, anxiety, blurred vision, concentration impairment, constipation and crying spell.

Q. Is Tridep 25mg Tablet fatal?

Yes. Tridep 25mg Tablet can be fatal (can cause death) in overdose. This is due to a life-threatening or dangerous side effect in overdose like hyperthermia, seizure, arrhythmia, tachycardia, orthostatic hypotension or sudden death. That’s why it is generally not considered a first-line option for depression because of side effect profile.

Q. Can I take Tridep 25mg Tablet with diazepam?

It is better to avoid this combination. Diazepam is a sedative drug and Tridep 25mg Tablet may cause sedation as a side effect too. Taking both of them together can increase the drowsiness or sleepiness. Inform your doctor if you are taking diazepam.

Q. Can Tridep 25mg Tablet be used in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia?

No. Tridep 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. Trigeminal neuralgia is a chronic pain condition that affects the trigeminal or 5th cranial nerve, one of the most widely distributed nerves in the head.

Q. Can Tridep 25mg Tablet be used in the treatment of burning mouth syndrome?

No. Tridep 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of burning mouth syndrome. Burning mouth syndrome is a painful condition of mouth that is burning, scalding, tingling or feeling of numbness that may occur every day for months or longer.

Yes. Tridep 25mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of depression. It has a potential advantage in the patient with depression if associated with insomnia and anxiety. It is generally not considered a first-line option for depression because of side effect profile but very useful for severe or treatment-resistant depression.

No. Tridep 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a functional gastrointestinal disorder characterised by chronic or recurrent abdominal pain or discomfort associated with altered bowel habits.

Q. Can Tridep 25mg Tablet be used to treat insomnia with depression?

Yes. Tridep 25mg Tablet may be used for the treatment of insomnia (too much arousal both at night and during the day) associated with depression. Because it can cause drowsiness or sedation as side effects, it is effective in treating insomnia associated with depression.

Q. Can I use Tridep 25mg Tablet for fibromyalgia?

Yes. Tridep 25mg Tablet is not approved for the treatment of fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is a pain syndrome with tenderness but no structural pathology in muscles, ligamanets or joints.

Q. Can I use Tridep 25mg Tablet for nerve pain?

Yes. Tridep 25mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of nerve pain/neuropathic pain. Chronic pain/Neuropathic pain is described as pain that arises from damage to, or dysfunction of, any part of peripheral or central nervous system. It is associated with the disease which can affect nerves like diabetes mellitus or herpes infections.

In Treatment of Anxiety disorder

Tridep 25mg Tablet is thought to work by stopping your brain from releasing the chemicals that make you feel anxious so it can reduce the symptoms of excessive anxiety and worry. It can also reduce feelings of restlessness, tiredness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, and sleep problems that often come with Generalised Anxiety Disorder. It will, therefore, help you go about your daily activities more easily and be more productive. Keep taking this medicine even if you feel well. Stopping suddenly can cause serious problems.

Driving:UNSAFE

Tridep 25mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

There is limited information available on the use of Tridep 25mg Tablet in patients with kidney disease. Please consult your doctor.However, some studies suggest a cautious use of this medicine in patients with kidney disease.
