Tripine Cold Plus Syrup is a combination of four medicines: Chlorpheniramine Maleate, Phenylephrine, Paracetamol, and Sodium Citrate, which relieves common cold symptoms. Chlorpheniramine is an antiallergic that relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes, and sneezing. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Paracetamol is an analgesic (pain reliever) and an antipyretic (fever reducer). It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that are responsible for pain and fever. Sodium citrate is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out.

Q: What if I forget to give Tripine Cold Plus Syrup to my child?
A: Do not panic. Unless your child’s doctor has advised a specific regime for your child, you can give the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it’s almost the time for the next dose. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule and do not give a double dose to catch up with the missed dose.

Tripine Cold Plus Syrup may make your child feel sleepy. Ensure your child takes extra care when taking part in physical activities.

Never combine Tripine Cold Plus Syrup with other cold and flu medicines as that may lead to side effects.

Stop Tripine Cold Plus Syrup and immediately report to the doctor if your child develops an itchy rash, facial swelling, or breathing difficulties.

Always stick to the prescribed dose. To pour out the right dose, use the calibrated cup provided with the medicine by the manufacturer. Do not use a kitchen teaspoon as it will not give the correct estimate.

Q. Can other medicines be given at the same time as Tripine Cold Plus Syrup?

Tripine Cold Plus Syrup can sometimes interact with other medicines or substances. Tell your doctor about any other medicines your child is taking before starting Tripine Cold Plus Syrup. Also, check with your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

If your child is suffering from any Cardiovascular disease (hypertension, heart disease), Diabetes mellitus, GI obstruction, increased intraocular pressure, urinary obstruction, or thyroid dysfunction, avoid giving Tripine Cold Plus Syrup. Always inform your doctor about your child’s medical history before giving Tripine Cold Plus Syrup.

Q. My child has a cough and fever. Can I give him two different cough and fever medicines together?

Do not give your child more than one cough or cold medicine at a time unless advised by the doctor. This is because both the medicines could have the same ingredients and taking them together would cause an overdose and could result in serious implications on your child. Always consult your child’s doctor before giving any medicine to your child.

Never give your child the medicines that have been recommended for use by adults. Tripine Cold Plus Syrup should be stored at room temperature, in a dry place, away from direct heat and light. Also, keep all medicines out of the reach and sight of children to avoid any accidental intake.
