Twinrix Paediatric Injection is a combination of two medicines: Freeze-dried Live Attenuated Hepatitis A Vaccine and Hepatitis B Vaccine (rDNA) which prevent Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B. They help develop immunity by initiating a mild infection. This type of infection does not cause illness but stimulates the body’s immune system to produce antibodies (proteins) to protect against any future infections.

In Prevention of Hepatitis A infection
Hepatitis A is an inflammation of the liver caused by infection with the hepatitis A virus. Twinrix Paediatric Injection helps your body develop immunity by forming antibodies that your body needs for protection against the hepatitis A virus. It is given by an injection into a muscle only by a doctor or nurse.
In Prevention of Hepatitis B infection
Hepatitis B is an infection of the liver caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It can spread from person to person through blood, semen or other body fluids. It can cause mild illness lasting a few weeks or can lead to a serious, lifelong illness. Twinrix Paediatric Injection is given to prevent hepatitis B infection. Twinrix Paediatric Injection is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving:CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR
It is not known whether Twinrix Paediatric Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Kidney:SAFE IF PRESCRIBED
Twinrix Paediatric Injection is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Twinrix Paediatric Injection may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

10Drug Tips
Twinrix Paediatric Injection is used to immunize adults and adolescents 16 years of age and above who are at risk of both hepatitis A and hepatitis B infection.
It consists of three doses, the first administered at the selected date, the second one month later, and the third six months after the first dose.
The vaccine will not prevent infection caused by other agents such as hepatitis C and hepatitis E and other pathogens known to infect the liver.
